We’re all creatures of habit and having a routine can be a lifesaver when you’re busy – you’re more likely to exercise regularly if you do it at the same time each week, whereas having a fixed day for batch cooking can really help you plan for the week ahead.

However, research from the University of Hertfordshire found that when routines become too rigid, they can act as webs, making it difficult to change a habit even when we know it isn’t helpful.

Having a spring cleaning of your habits can help you pursue your weight loss goals with renewed focus.

Research shows that if you set a goal, you’re more likely to achieve it — and the more ambitious you are, the better.

A study of 24,000 thin people by Slimming World found that thin people who set an ambitious dream target weight lost almost twice as much weight as those who aimed for a more modest amount.

“Setting an ambitious goal can help you visualize what you’re capable of,” says Dr. Jacquie Lavin, head of research and scientific affairs at Slimming World.

She also recommends setting “mini-goals” that Slimming World members are encouraged to achieve each week, whether it’s shedding a few pounds, going for a lunchtime walk, or cooking with fat. new ingredients.

“Your big goal is your destination, mini goals are milestones along the way. Each time you reach one, it will give you a sense of accomplishment and motivate you to take the next step.
