TEXARKANA, TX. (KTAL / KMSS) – Ten people were shot dead and 1 died during a Halloween party on Saturday night.
Police said an emergency call arrived just before midnight for a shooting at the Octavia Activity Center in the 2300 block of Texas Blvd. There were over 200 people in attendance for a Halloween party by the time the suspect opened fire.
When the police arrived, brawls took place at the scene. It is not yet known if the suspect was present at the party before the shooting.
The initial tally was 9 people were shot, 1 was seriously injured. Five are being treated at Wadley Regional Medical Center, four of them are at CHRISTUS St. Michael’s Hospital. Some of the injured drove to hospital.
It was confirmed that one victim died just after 3 a.m. Police confirmed that after 4 a.m. 10 people were shot dead during the event.
The Bowie County Sheriff’s Office said the suspect was still at large. He’s a black man measuring 5 ′ 11 ″, around 152 pounds with dreads. MPs say he wears a white jacket, whitewashed jeans and a blue cap. He drives a white Grand Marquis with three passengers.
