After Team Reptile’s funktastic Bomb Rush Cyberfunk trailer dropped in 2021, we’ve been feeling the beat as we wait for an official release date. Today, however, we had to put that funky music on hold as the studio took to Twitter to announce that the game won’t be releasing this year.

As the folks at VGC noticed, in a heartfelt message expressing the developer’s desire for the game to be released in the best possible condition, Team Reptile said the game’s launch date is pushed back to summer 2023 – a very bit groovy extension on original window 2022.

A sort of spiritual successor to the Dreamcasts Radio Jet SetBomb Rush is dripping with 2000s punk skate and graffiti, with a stunning soundtrack by Jet Set composer Hideki Naganuma.

While it’s never easy to see a game pushed back (we miss you Advance Wars), the team is focused on getting the finished product to a, uhthe finished state is always promising — much better than a push it and fix it approach in our books.

It also looks like we’re getting some brand new visuals for the game during the week, so that’s something to look forward to, at least. Take back that funky music.
