Bex wanted to promote a healthy lifestyle as part of Diabetes Awareness Week, which runs until June 20.

“Diabetes UK has revealed that cases of type 2 diabetes have doubled over the past 15 years,” said Bex. “Lifestyle and obesity being blamed for the increase.

“Almost 4.9 million Britons have been diagnosed with the disease, compared to just over two million between 2004 and 2005.

“Another 850,000 people are thought to have type 2 without even knowing it, and 13.6 million people in the UK are now at increased risk of developing type 2 diabetes.

“This news has once again highlighted the real health issues associated with being overweight.”

Bex said there are many different approaches and voices offering solutions to the obesity crisis. However, she said there was no other program or method that offered effective behavior change support, a sustainable and flexible diet, the warmth, friendliness, hope and care that Slimming World provides.

She said: “By choosing Slimming World, you will receive expert support, a unique support system that we can offer to help change their lives for members.

“We will also encourage you to make healthy choices by optimizing your diet and gradually integrating your daily activities with our body magic program.

“You are going to change the habits of your life in order to embark on a new lifestyle to lose weight and stay slim for life.

“Obesity and its health risks are real now more than ever, which I overwhelmingly understand, can cause some potential members to feel isolated and scared about losing weight.

“But I really need them to know that at Slimming World we understand that, and we are here to change their lives and their happiness.”

The Bex developer and consultant team, which manages the Slimming World Nottingham South area, will be the new face of Slimming World in their region.
