Three Donegal natives are set to star in a new TV series on weight loss and healthy lifestyles.
Hannah Ní Dhubhcháin, Bríd Nic Suibhne and Proinsias Ó Raghallaí are among the seven personalities to star in ‘Na Slimmers’, which begins on TG4 tonight at 8:30 p.m.
The series follows men and women from across Ireland who are on a personal weight loss journey for a variety of reasons.
Hannah Ní Dhubhcháin, 28, is a bridesmaid at her cousin’s wedding and wants to make sure she feels comfortable in the dress – she is currently a size 16 but wants to fit in the dress size 12 already purchased.
Gaoth Dobhair wife Bríd Nic Suibhne was proudly crowned ‘Slimmer of the Year’ with her local band Slimming World a few years ago, but for health reasons she has regained her full weight. Nonetheless, Bríd has regained his mojo and aims to become ‘Thinner of the Year’ for the second time.
Donegal male Proinsias Ó Raghallaí needs to lose weight for health reasons. Barely 50 years old, Proinsias spent 30 years in New York City where he worked long hours standing in the bar business. He now finds it difficult to walk on his own and relies on crutches. He desperately needs to be put on the hip replacement list, but he needs to lose 3 stones first. It’s a tough task for Proinsias as he can’t practice properly, but he’s determined to find a way out of his Catch 22 situation.
The “thinnest” will share the ins and outs of their health journey through four episodes. They will let cameras enter their homes, minds and refrigerators as they face their new lifestyle choices. Viewers will see how each adapts to a better lifestyle and the methods they use to achieve their own weight goals.
‘Na Slimmers’ is an Imagine Media production for TG4 with support from the Northern Ireland Screen Irish Language Fund. The first episode will air on TG4 on Wednesday 8the September 2021 at 8.30 pm.
