GM

The Ballymote Heritage Group AGM will be held at the Rock Center on Monday 7th November at 7.30pm. Everyone is welcome. This AGM will be particularly poignant given that longtime Heritage Group Treasurer Pamela Benson recently passed away following a tragic and untimely accident. Members of the group are keen to recognize the efficient and selfless service rendered by Pamela in controlling the financial affairs of our local history and cultural activities for many years. His thoughtful and relevant contributions throughout all of our deliberations will always be appreciated. Pamela’s work as the Corran Herald’s distributor and financial controller were key factors in ensuring the success of our newspaper.

Cooking at low cost

A cooking class for parents will begin at the Ballymote Family Resource Center on Monday, November 21, from 10 a.m. to noon. This course is free and will last four weeks.

A group of men started at Ballymote FRC. It meets once a week on Thursdays at 7 p.m. Everyone is welcome.

Free food parcels

Free food parcels are available under the FEAD program for low-income people. A brief form must be completed. Call 071 9197818 for details.

CARRAROE

church choir

The parish choir is back to rehearse Monday evenings at 7:30 p.m. in the church. All members are invited to attend and new members are welcome. The choir will help with mass at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday evening and Sunday at 9:30 a.m.

Exercise group in Carraroe

Our chair exercise sessions are held every Thursday at 11am at the Carraroe Community Center. This program is professionally led by Arita Loughlin for one hour. Everyone is welcome, including more men. Come join us for a very enjoyable physical training session. St. John’s GAA Lotto

Lotto jackpot €18,800.

No jackpot winner. The €25 winners were Emer Moore, Majella Henry, Charlie O’Brien, Shaune Grady. The draw will take place on Saturday November 5th. Dancing at the Carraroe Community Center

No vaping boxes/containers in Carraroe

We urge people not to throw vaping boxes or containers on our roads as volunteers have to pick them up after you. Take them home and throw them away. Thanks.

We meet on Mondays at 11 o’clock. Currently we meet at the car park opposite the Sligo Sports Complex. Anyone interested can drop by or contact 087 2222835 and we’ll add you to the WhatsApp text system so you get notifications.

Elderly alarm system

Cadra urges all eligible residents to take advantage of the program as it brings great comfort and support to people. Anyone over the age of 65 is eligible. Anyone who already has the alarm is advised to wear the pendant at all times, including in the shower (as it is waterproof)/in bed. Application forms and full details are available on the cadra.ie website.

DROMAHAIR

Dromahair Hospice Support Group.

Dromahair Hospice Support Group would like to thank everyone who supported their recent coffee morning at the Depot. Thank you for giving so generously. A total of €800 was collected for a very good cause.

Fun 5,000 km family run/walk

The Killenummery Women’s Group are delighted with the return of their 5k family fun run/walk. It will take place on Sunday, November 13 at 2 p.m. at Killenummery Hall. Registration from 1 p.m. Refreshments will be served after the walk and as always lots of prizes. 10€ adults, children free, over 12 years old 5€

Proceeds from this year will go towards the medical needs of little Aria Rose Wilkie Barry., Killenummery, who has spent most of her life so far in hospital. Her parents hope to bring her home soon and she has lifelong medical needs. Any support will be highly appreciated.

25 Card game

25 Card-Game resumed at Killenummery Hall on Tuesday evenings at 9 p.m.

Hedge Trimming Grant Scheme 2022/2023.

This program is now open and aims to encourage the cutting of roadside hedges/trees along the public road network. Open to all, individual candidates, communities and groups. The subsidy is €75 per km of roadside hedge/overhanging trees that are cut. The minimum length of the road network per application is 1 km. Closing date is Tuesday 31st January 2023, RSS Vacancies Leitrim Development Company has limited vacancies on the Rural Social Scheme (RSS). We are looking for applications from the public to work on RSS This is a farmer-friendly program where participants work 19.5 hours a week and earn extra income from their farming. Christmas craft fair

The annual Dromahair Development Association/Tidy Towns Christmas Craft Fair takes place at the Depot on Sunday, November 27, from noon to 3 p.m. Lots of stalls with lovely handicrafts. Perfect opportunity to start your Christmas shopping, with a gift made with love. There will be a raffle on the day with loads and loads of great prizes. Come many and support.

The deposit

Coming to the Depot, we have new classes and workshops. Among them; Pilates with Rory, Car Care, Genealogy Classes from Wednesday 2 November at 8.30pm to help you trace your family tree, also ‘Time for YOU’, it’s about taking care of yourself, your physical and mental health . Time for you will take place on Thursday November 3, 10 and 17 at 6 p.m.

Bingo continues every Friday night at Gurteen Hall at 8pm – jackpot and lotto every night – also great 50/50/split. Bingo is back fully indoors. Support is greatly appreciated.

CELTIC GOURTEEN

The €50 winner this week was Valerie McCormack five, Shannon Drive, Gurteen – the numbers drawn were 05, 08, 26 and 27 – the jackpot was not won and the lotto is now €11,500.

ORIENTAL HARPS

MONSTERADEN DRAW

The Monasteraden Community Improvement Committee has recently been established and the aim is to rejuvenate the village with the long term vision of creating a community centre. They are launching this idea on Saturday night November 5th at O’Dowd’s Lakeview Lounge, Monasteraden and there will be a monster raffle with great prizes.
