Chris sweeps the boards
Local sheep man Chris Connolly swept the boards at the recent Cloonacool Sheep Show with a string of class wins. These victories were met with stiff opposition from breeders across the west of Ireland.
One of the cups Christy won was the Tom Connolly Memorial Cup, a cup previously presented in honor of her late grandfather, Tom Connolly. Christy won the Show Champion with her Cheviot ram award.
Dog show for Kathy
The dog show at the recent Sheep Festival was well attended by dog owners from across the North West. The event was dedicated to the memory of Kathy Kelly (Hannon) who herself was a great dog lover. The winner of the dog show was Martina Blake from Loughrea in County Galway. The good weather and the crowds made this show a spectacular success that will be repeated in the years to come.
Cloonacool Community Park Walkway – please note the Community Park walkway lights are now turned off no earlier than 9pm – due to rising energy costs.
The community cafe continues as usual next weekend with regular opening hours of 11 a.m. Friday and 10 a.m. Saturday and Sunday. Some volunteer spots have appeared on the rotation. Contact Rita or Attracta if you want to be part of the team.
